Target drops same-day delivery price markups for over 100 retailers through its Shipt service
Target’s same-day delivery service for its loyalty program members just got a significant upgrade.
The retailer currently offers unlimited same-day delivery to its paid subscription Target Circle 360 members on Target orders totaling more than $35.
On Monday, Target announced it is now removing price markups on same-day delivery orders that its members place with more than 100 other retailers through its paid loyalty program.
Cara Sylvester, Target’s executive vice president, in a statement described the effort as Target building “a true digital shopping center experience” to make shoppers’ “Saturday errand run easier, faster and more affordable."
While same-day delivery from Target has always been free from price markups, the change means Target Circle 360 members (separate from the free-to-join Target Circle loyalty program) can now also order online for same-day delivery from other retailers such as CVS, Lowe’s, Home Depot, PetSmart and 7-Eleven and various regional grocery chains (powered by online delivery service Shipt which Target acquired in 2017) without having to pay more for those orders.
Shipt CEO Kamau Witherspoon said the move aims to help consumers “looking to save both time and money” by shaping a “one-of-a-kind, dynamic retail ecosystem.”
Target's Circle 360 membership program costs $99 annually or $10.99 a month, and includes benefits such as free two-day shipping and early access to sales events.
