White Castle is serving romance with its sliders on Valentine's Day
The burger chain marks 35th anniversary of its Valentine's Day "fine dining" experience, complete with roses, red table covers and hostess seating.
After three decades of offering it, White Castle’s one-day-only Valentine’s Day “fine dining” experience is back, and marking its 35th anniversary.
Since 1991, the year that White Castle first debuted its own twist on a Valentine’s Day celebration, the burger chain has turned the iconic event into a fun tradition.
On Feb. 14, more than 300 White Castle locations nationwide this year will once again convert into what the burger chain is calling “Love Castles” that will sport festive décor to zhuzh up the usual no-frills tiled floors and simple blue-and-white color palette on the inside. Each location will offer couples, families or friends, hostess seating, tableside service for dining in on the chain’s iconic small, square “sliders,” french fries, soda and desserts.
“Valentine’s Day at White Castle is about more than dinner out at a restaurant. It’s about creating moments people remember and talk about for years,” Jamie Richardson, White Castle’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
The unique setup drew as many as 30,000 people to participating regional White Castle locations in 2018 and White Castle said many customers “return to the same location annually as part of their own traditions.”
White Castle said reservations are recommended (through OpenTable.com) for dining at participating locations on Valentine’s Day.
